Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First Edition. (London: Herbert Jenkins nd [1924]). First UK Edition. 8vo; 6 1/2 x 4, 121 pages. Published at 2/6 in April 1924 (per the English Catalogue of Books for 1924). Publisher's pale green boards with black lettering to the front board and spine. SIGNED & INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR IN THE YEAR OF P…UBLICATION. A VG copy (bruised to the spine tips, faded to the spine and to the edges of both the front and rear boards) in like edge-worn dustwrapper with chips to both the top and bottom edges (not affecting any lettering) and a darkened spine. Inscribed by the Author to the front free end-paper: "To Sidney Dark/ with the Author's homage/ A E Manning Foster/ April 1924". Sidney Dark (1874-1947) was an English journalist, author and critic and Editor of the Church Times. Quite uncommon in first edition. 'Diner-Out' was a regular contributor to the "Daily Mail" on those most important subjects - Good Food and Good Wine. It is good to see that numerous restaurants that were at the top of their game in the early 1920's continue to be around nearly 100 years later. Photographs/scans available upon request. Signed by Author.
