Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. A charming Hollywood studio-era sheet music issue promoting one of MGM's final Jeanette MacDonald musicals. Although the film premiered in 1948, the song was copyrighted in late 1947 as part of the studio's advance music promotion campaign. The attractive sepia-toned cover features photographic portraits of MacDonald, child star Jane Powell, and pianist Jose Iturbi surrounding the film's title treatment. Interior advertisements document Robbins Music's contemporary catalog, including standards such as Blue Moon, Deep Purple, Moonlight Mood, and its popular Mammoth Books series, making this copy a useful snapshot of postwar American popular music publishing. Condition: Very Good. Complete and sound with light overall age toning, moderate edge wear, corner creasing, and a small closed tear/loss at the upper front cover affecting part of the title but not the musical text. Small contemporary owner's name ("Nancy Whitman") in pencil on the front cover. Interior pages remain clean with no writing noted in the music. Spine fold remains solid with expected handling wear but no detached pages. Unlike many film sheet music covers that relied on painted illustrations, Robbins chose a modern photographic montage emphasizing MGM's three principal musical stars. This reflects a broader postwar trend in Hollywood music publishing toward using studio publicity photography as a marketing tool. The back cover is equally collectible, preserving a period advertisement for the Robbins Mammoth Books series edited by Hugo Frey, one of the best-known music educators and arrangers of the era. These publisher advertisements often changed frequently, allowing collectors to date printings more precisely. Howard Dietz (1896-1983) was one of Hollywood's great lyricists and an influential MGM publicity executive. He wrote lyrics for numerous classics - including songs for The Band Wagon and Singin' in the Rain era productions - and is also credited with creating MGM's famous roaring lion advertising campaign. Sammy Fain (1902-1989) was among the most successful American popular song composers of the twentieth century. His works include enduring standards such as I'll Be Seeing You, Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing, and Secret Love, earning multiple Academy Award nominations and two Oscars. His songs bridged Broadway, Tin Pan Alley, radio, and Hollywood films, making his sheet music consistently collectible.…
