Jahrhundert wurden zwei Schlösser in der Herrschaft von Arconciel gebaut: Arconciel am rechten Ufer der Sarine und Illens am linken." (swisscastles; nur frz.) - Im Mittelalter war Arconciel als Marktflecken (Stadtrecht 1271) mit einer Burg das Zentrum der bedeutenden Herrschaft Arconciel-Illens. Reste von Flecken und Burg sind gut zu erkennen. 1484 wurde Arconciel der Alten Landschaft eingegliedert, 1798 dem helvetischen Distrikt La Roche, 1803 dem Bezirk Freiburg, 1848 dem Bezirk Saane. (HLS) - Um 1980 wird Arconciel als 'Wüstung' eingestuft, was wohl die Burganlage und umgebende ursprüngliche (mittelalterliche) Siedlung betrifft (in: Autorenkoll., Gesch. d. Kt. Aktuelle Bilder zeigen hingegen von Illens eine offensichtlich konservierte grosse (Turm-) Ruine (s. swisscastles ch), und ein Zeitungsartikel von 2015 vermeldet ein entspr. neueres Schutzprojekt (ibid.). -- Max de Diesbach (-de Torny; Courgevaux 1851-1916 Uebewil, Gem.
