Signed by the Author, ffep. Octavo, brown cloth (hardcover), gilt letters, xii + 207 pp. Fine, in a tape repaired, mylar protected dust jacket. From dust jacket: Dickey's done it again, and his fans will be delighted that he's written another book -- and that he hasn't reformed. Once in a while, he sneakily inserts some devastatingly wise and practical detail on how to catch a particular fish (even a very particular fish) or how to bag some elusive game, but you'll find a lot more here on the fisherman than the fished, more on the hunter than the hunted, more on the camper than on campsites. People remain Charley's obsession -- people in the outdoors. His wisdom, insights, nostalgia, and humor are as fresh as ever. Fresher, maybe. Fresh is very important to Charley, and he doesn't have much use for freezer-burned outdoor literature. If you've ever been startled by a rabbit or a moose, a grouse or a trout or a first-time camper -- or a piece of outdoor equipment that doesn't function exactly according to the printed directions -- you're a Dickey devotee.
