Leland D Baldwin; Durban; Jan. 1, 1963.' (Brookes was attached to the department of political science at Duke University, North Carolina, for a semester, in 1962.) Edgar Harry Brookes was a political scientist who served on the South African delegation to the League of Nations (1927). He also founded and was later president of the South African Institute of Race Relations. He served in the Senate as a 'Native Representative,' and was ordained into the Anglican ministry late in life.
