Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good-. Illustrated by Barbara C Freeman (illustrator). 4to hbk in d/w; Vg/Vg-; Ca lovely book, not filled in at all and with lots of interesting information from all year round. Olour frontis and 16 pages in full colour plus nearly 200 line drawings; Derek McCulloch includes a 'pen portrait' (ie writes about) Arthur Ransome - recalling that he used to read a chapter from Swallows and amazons every Friday on BBC childrens Hour every Friday, and how lucky he was to have known him personally. He described him as being a bit like Ratty in The Wind in the willoiws as he loved messing about in boats. It is quite a nice little article for Arthur Ransome enthusiasts. The book also contains a lovely double page spread by Barbara C Freeman of the Nativity. Also some very attractive nature illustrations.
