Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Limited Edition/Unique. Limited Edition/Unique. Hardcover. "Some time ago I suddenly got the urge to make a book about tattoos. I decided to think about tattoos not just as pictures or designs, but to consider them more broadly (scars, living drawing marks, body adornments, rites of passage, magic to improve the body?s function, ways to relieve or relive pain, signs of bravery, remembrances, cultural signifiers, or tribal/ group markings). I also thought of the idea of drawing on skin and marking its surface as a way to be aware of it as a three-dimensional picture plane (with psychological implications). I have to admit that the associations with crime and other ?bad? things was enticing to me as well. This book of tattoo proposals is simply a non-linear document of my own thinking about these ideas." (from Intro) Woodblock prints and photopolymer letterpress details, printed on handmade Richard de Bas paper. Binding: Honey colored goat skin tattooed with black and red ink. Trays made with black book cloth and lined with felt.?Design is copied from the box the original artist created. Tattooed using an 11RL and 23M needles and Eternal Ink.? Small professional repair to the paper enclosure, else tight, bright, and unmarred. Printed paper wrapper; full leather drop spine archival box in a tattooed binding that mirror the original binding. np. Illus. (color plates). Numbered limited edition of 25 copies, this copy unique. Signed by the artist.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Limited Edition. Limited Edition. Hardcover. "The basis of this book is a dynamic text/image collaboration between writer and im- age-maker. The collaborative process consisted of texts and images sent back and forth in dialogue with one another, each element continuing on from the last. This created a freely evolving narrative that turned into a surrealist story that Accame describes as ?.a short story in images and words that tells of how a dark force calls to a man and sweeps him away to the unknown places of his soul? The original Spanish text was translated into Eng- lish, and both languages appear on each page. The drawings were made on lithographic stones and printed in careful register over archival pigment prints on Kitakata papers. They were then mounted onto the pages of the book alongside the letterpress printed texts. The finished book was exquisitely hand bound by Mark Tomlinson." (from prospectus). Tight, bright, and unmarred. np. Illus. (color plates). Numbered limited edition of 40 copies. Signed by the artist.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Limited Edition. Limited Edition. Hardcover. "In order to create an element of unpredictability, as well as a sense of improvisation and openness to the artistic process, each artist worked from the same series of folded photographs without knowing exactly what the other would do. In the final step the text, images, and photgraphs were combined to produce the book. The handmade paper pages of this book were printed at least nine times each with lithographic plates and stones, copper plate etchings and specially cast metal type to achieve the visual subtlety to properly accompany Mark?s precise writing style. Among other things, the photographic elements are printed in two layers of light and middle grey, or a duotone, and the back of each sheet was printed three times in order to create shadows within the paper and blue reflected light that emanates from behind the book." (prospectus) Bound by Mark Tomlinson. Tight, bright, and unmarred. np. Illus. (color plates). Numbered limited edition of 30. Signed by the artist.

Dennerline, Thorsten (illustrator). First edition. Edition of 15 copies with two artists' proofs. The exquisite binding by Barry Spence cuts no corners, with details like two-color hand sewn end bands and hand worked wooden board covers of quarter sawn oak. The pages are sewn onto hemp cords two of which are inset into the text block to create an unexpected asymmetrical detail in the spine. The hemp cords are exposed on the covers to reveal the flowerlike form that is normally covered with cloth or leather. "This project involves many years of careful work photographing, printing, drawing and printing, writing and then printing again. It began in 2002, when I started photographing insects from the collection of the Entomology labs at the University of Massachusetts. At the time, I was captivated by the idea of looking closely at these beautiful specimens and their death silence created by the wounds of the display pins. It then traveled to Illinois, where I, after much editing, printed the photos using archival inks and then further responded to them with three drawing layers of lithography. The collaborative aspect happened in New Hampshire at the MacDowell Colony where Brendan was introduced the images. He responded with the 94-part poem that is printed upon the handmade paper sheets with Univers type from Wild Carrot Letterpress in Massachusetts.".

Mixed binding. Condition: Fine in Fine Slipcase. Limited Edition. Limited Edition. Mixed binding. "These four volumes represent an exchange between choreographer Susan Sgorbati and book artist Thorsten Dennerline, using Sgorbati?s concept of ?Emergent Forms? as their point of departure. ?Emergent Forms? grew out of Sgorbati?s study of the spontaneous composition of form in complex systems. Elements of order and interaction create recognizable patterns in these systems, but they remain dynamic, engendering differentiations that influence and modify the form. This phenomenon ? the creation of order from a rich array of self-organizing interactions ? is found not only in dance and music; indeed, it is present throughout the natural world. This project consists of four emergent forms (Pattern, Memory, Landscape, and Dream), each represented by a ?volume?, a unique print/object. The texture, color and gesture of each form on paper emerged through the process of collaborative dialogue, reminiscent of a shared choreography. Each volume is not only a documentation of this dialogue, but also an interactive visualization of these emergent forms."
