Ex-library copy with several old stamps, one of which is black inked over on a prelim blank page, another of these inked-over with old black ink stamps is near the top of the first page of text, Chapter I. The ink has bled through the page and partially obscured 4 lines of the text on the page. Some spine lean, some wear to head and tail of spine, a library label of some sort has been removed from lower spine area where cover cloth is a bit abraded. The green cover cloth is a bit spotted/lightened in places, a patch at center/right of front cover and mostly around upper left and along the fore-edge of back cover.; Illus. , folded map at rear. 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" label tipped-in on ffep (sideways, as it would have been a bit wide across the page) stating "Compliments of J. M. Addeman, Secretary of State, Providence R. I." the rear end-paper has been removed.
