Corners are lightly bumped and spine is gently pushed. Interior has previous owner's name on free end page. Moderate foxing throughout and slight loosing of the first pages near the bottom. Some additional small stains on pages 67 and 68. Otherwise, the interior is fairly clean with tight binding and numerous illustrations, plates and a map.

(Karl May, 1842-1912, writer of adventure stories set in the American West, collected Native American artifacts). Tragically, at the end of WWII Dengler was drafted into the "Volkssturm" and died in a prison camp. This is a good example of the romanticization of the American West in Europe.With 80 black & white plates and one color frontispiece. Fair to good: front pages and illustrated board covers time-toned; light wear to extremities.
