framed. Condition: very good. Hand-written letter in pencil (lightly written) from French writer and activist Simon de Beauvoir. Written to Professor Londa Schiebinger (current Director, Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Engineering and Environment Project at Stanford University) thanking her for an invitation to an event in the US which "Unfortunately it is impossible for me to leave Paris in the month of March. Please believe in my regrets and in my best wishes. S de Beauvoir". Circa 1985. Please inquire for more information. Simone Lucie Ernestine Marie Bertrand de Beauvoir was a French existentialist philosopher, writer, social theorist, and feminist activist. Though she did not consider herself a philosopher, nor was she considered one at the time of her death, she had a significant influence on both feminist existentialism and feminist theory.
