Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First edition. The first book appearance of Edith Nesbit's last short story, written on her death bed, according to the preface. These stories were printed previously in The Daily Herald. Mostly classic tales, many supernatural, such as Lord Lytton's "The Haunted and the Haunters." Also selects Shiel's "Many a Tear" and Poe's "Masque of Red Death" - which appears to be illustrated on the dust jacket. The contribution from Nesbit is titled "A Christmas Criminal" about a boy who decides to steal to provide his family a Christmas meal. Stain to brown cloth book, not affecting what must be a very scarce dust jacket.
