From one young girl's collection, this hardcover (5.25" x 7.5") from 1916 is in its FIRST EDITION, First State binding: light green color with the girls pictured in darker green, red, & black to front, lettered in the same colors to front & spine. Slightly later printing, listing to book #8 in front matter & back DJ, in 256 pages with glossy frontispiece by J. Watson Davis (better known for illustrating the Horatio Alger series). First state DJ is cream, same image, artist unattributed. Condition is VG+: very clean, binding strong & square, hinges secure, pages creamy white with age-appropriate tanning, heavier around edges, but completely unmarked. Very mild rubbing to extremities & light bumping to corners & spine tips. The unclipped DJ is barely Good, with a large chip missing from font, only mild-moderate rubbing & chipping to extremities, including all corners & spine tips; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
