Green Buckram. Condition: Good+. First Ed. 349 pages, starting front and rear although the binding is holding, two inch rip on inner margin on page 254, pages 145 to 154 have the corners torn off. The cloth is clean, and the backstrip is readable. Some of the pages are uncut. The paper seems to be quite delicate for some reason in this book.

Loose at front, 2 1/2 page autograph letter (on two conjugate sheets, each 5 1/4 x 6 3/4 inches) on statiionery imprinted on first page "United States Ship Alabama." Charles H. Davis (the admiiral's son and the author of this book) to Henry C. Palisen, Esq., dated Gauntanamo, Mar. 4, 1904. Davis thanks Palisen for a letter about this book and discusses the passing of an earlier generation of naval officers.
