Contact seller5-star seller4to. [1], 108, [1] mimeograph leaves, punch-holed at gutter margin. Illustrated flexible gray textured covers, brass split-pin post-binder, mock-up cover art illustration of Robert Mitchum holding revolver, with actress Sylvia Miles clutching his trenchcoat, yapp fore-edges (minor age-toning, shelfwear), still, a VG copy. First…edition, thus, of this final draft screenplay for the 1975 film noir starring Robert Mitchum as Philip Marlowe, Jack O'Holloran as the relentless Moose Malloy, Charlotte Rampling as the femme fatale/villainess, and Sylvia Miles as Jessie Halstead Florian, whose 8 minutes of screen time earned her an Oscar Nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Goodman who is perhaps best remembered for his Logan's Run screenplay, does a very good job adapting Chandler's convoluted noir mystery, echoing much of Edward Dmytryk's earlier version "Murder my Sweet," starring Dick Powell who won Edgar Awards in 1946 for Best Motion Picture, Screenplay by John Paxton, Author for Raymond Chandler, Actor for Powell, and RKO Pictures. Unfortunately, Goodman was unable to streamline and solve some of the plot issues in the third act, but still the film remains an excellent version of an older & more jaded Marlowe by Mitchum, which he would reprise later in The Big Sleep (1978). Director Dick Richards authentically recreates 1940's Los Angeles, with props, furniture, costumes, automobiles, and backgrounds considered by many to be one of the best looking period Film Noir's of the 1970's through 2000's. Worldcat locates 3 copies (Bowling Green, Art Center Coll of Design LA, Universitatsbibliotheck Duisburg-Essen).
