Paperback. Condition: Good. None (illustrator). First edition. An interesting piece of engineering history. Being a report regarding the Asuan/Aswan Dam, a pioneering piece of irrigation engineering in Egypt. This report looks at the motion of water through sluices. This report also has an excerpt of proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Vol ccxviii, Session 1923-1924 part ii. The Institution was the first professional engineering body and was formed during the late eighteenth/early nineteenth centuries. The ICE have issued numerous works over the years. This report has some interesting provenance as it is from the library of Frederic Newhouse (1883-1969), sometime inspector-general of Egyptian irrigation in the Sudan. With his inscription to the front wrap. With several in-text diagrams and tables. Written by Harold Edwin Hurst and David Alexander Fraser Watt, with an abstract of the discussion upon the papers. Edited by the secretary of The Institution, H H Jeffcott. A fascinating piece of history from the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan condominium. In the original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. Front wrap is torn at the joint and may detach with further handling. Loss to the head and tail of spine. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Pages are bright and clean. Good. book.
