Snugly bound and very neat, recased with original publisher's brown cloth laid down over new boards and spine. Decorative pictorial title designs brightly in gilt to spin…es; boards embellished in blind. This set professionally recased in matching color cloth, retaining most of the original cloth. Tissue guarded frontis and extra engraved title page. Endpages refreshed. Prior owner bookplate to front pastedowns over evidence of an earlier bookplate removal. Handsome attractive copy. Dated to about 1861 by Peterson ads at rear. Early American printing of Hard Times. VG to VG+ thus.
