Some of the tissue-guards for the plates are missing, the remaining ones are browned/foxed. Overall a 'Good+' copy.

Auf dem Vorderdeckel innen ein altes Exibris *Marie Gräfin von der Goltz*, ein Besitzvermerk oben auf dem Titelblatt von anderer Hand vom Juni 1967, das Papier ist teils unbeschnitten sowie zeitbedingt teils gebräunt. Seiten teils etwas stockfleckig, teils auch stärker. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Second Edition. Original red cloth with gilt lettering front and spine, gilt decoration lower front cover. EX-Library with library stamp on title page, library bookplate on front free end-page, library card pocket on rear free end-page, library sticker pulled from spine leaving slight mark (see photo), no other library marks. The plates are clean, not damaged, and do not have any library markings or stamps. Generally a clean, sound example of the book. The end-pages are the original coated green paper. The original tissue guards are present and browned as usual. The binding is sound and not loose or cracked. There is some foxing on some of the early pages and near the end, otherwise the book is mostly free of foxing. The book is complete with all pages and plates (nothing missing). The book measures 289mm tall x 209mm and has 180 pages, 22 photogravure plates of guide portraits on heavy stock paper plus a dedication plate with a smaller b/w photo image, 33 b/w smaller photos including a small one on the title page, 1 small illustration, 1 full-page plate with sketches of 11 types of ice-axes, index.
