Pictorial (kilted boy in spiked helmet blowing bugle and holding flag, girl with sabre to fnt; plain back) paper-covered boards with dark blue cloth backstripe. Book has rubbing to edges and corners. 80 pages. 12 stories with b&w illus. and each generally with a moral. Seems very much of the Tom Brown's Schooldays era. Stories "Brave and True" (E Dawson); "Two Rough Stones" (Geo. Manville Fenn); "A Grateful Indian" (Helen Marion Burnside); "In the Country", a poem (F Gary Severne) "My Encounter with a Grizzly" (Arthur J Daniels); "Up the Mountain" (Frances E Crompton); "A New Set" a limerick; "Grandfather's Hero; "Bernard's Experiment" ; "Toby the Clown" a poem; "A Christmas Fairy" (John Strange Winter); "Haggart's Lie" (Geraldine Glasgow).
