Library bookplate, pages trimmed and one section loose, but a good strong serviceable reading copy. A collection of songs originally issued by the Newcastle-on-Tyne Typographical Society, at first issued separately and afterwards collectively in several editions. The original manuscripts, related correspondence and corrected proofs were puchased by Crawhall and collated into this single volume. An advert for the large paper edition is printed opposite the title-page which often leads to people confusing this, the standard edition, as being the large paper. The spine of the book carries the title Newcastle Fishers' Garlands. .

Quarto. xv, 312 pp. Etched plates on India paper and mounted, woodcut and wood engraved illustrations and ornaments, a few of which are hand-coloured. Tissue guards. Book Condition: Near Fine. Modern green half-morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe with 5 raised bands, gilt titles to spine and gilt angling motifs to compartments. Top edge gilt; marbled endpapers. A little light foxing mainly to final leaves otherwise a fine copy. Rare, only 50 copies of the large paper edition were printed. The common standard paper edition is often confused with the limited edition as it contains an advertisement leaf for the limited edition opposite the title page.
