Clean pages, illustrations and plates with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers, pastedowns, half title page and last page textblock. Hinges are heavily cracked with exposed netting. Binding is slightly loose. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Gilt lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear marks to boards.

Wonderful b&w drawings illustrate charming text supposedly dictated by a dog. Frontis.ill. shows collie balancing a piece of bread on his nose while sitting at attention on a tiger-skin rug in front of a lovely young girl in late victorian dress. Caption reads "The silliest trick of all was when I had to balance a piece of biscuit on the end of my long nose." Binding firm; green and orange pictorial binding shows leaf-design that looks like peacock feathers and a series of young boys in profile. Corners are slightly bumped and there is slight rubbing at crown and foot of spine. However there is considerable scuffing away of some color on boards.
