Book condition - Good plus ; contents clean, no foxing or tanning or offsetting, ink inscription on the title page - " To Bertie from his aff'n't brother C. Elvey Cope" - , binding firm, inner hinges intact ;… pale brown cloth with title in black on the front board ; corners a bit rubbed but not bent, boards' edges good, back of generally clean appearance with some light marks and one small dark stain, spine complete but ends worn, front and back hinges rubbed and split but secure, spine colour tanned, front board again of generally clean appearance with a few small marks and one obvious stain c. 1 x 4 cm. on the bottom edge. No dustjacket (ever issued ? ). Please see photos for indications of condition and contents. Charles Evley Cope, born in 1870 and died 1943, was a writer, poet, composer, organ builder, organist and choirmaster, .This book is in two sections, ' Songs Of A City ' and ' The Golden Art' , each containing a number of poems and each being previously published as separate books in 1923 and 1924. A rare book, and with the author's dedication to his brother.
