Four charming volumes within Black's Popular Series of Colour Books revolving around England and the British Empire. Includes both a first edition and r…evised editions, published between 1922-1930. In the publisher's original cloth, with Lakeland, London and Channel in blue, and Empire in red. As well as offering valuable insights, Black's series are also fascinating time pieces which transport readers back to the last century. Contains a frontispiece, and all thirty-one other colour plates. Contains publisher's original advertisements to rear. Collated complete. (1922). - London, described by A.R. Hope Moncrieff and illustrated by various artists, including J.H. Hartley and W.L. Wyllie. Fourth edition, revised. Contains a frontispiece, and all thirty-one other colour plates. Collated complete. (1929, first published in 1910). - The British Empire, described by Sir Frank Fox, and illustrated by various artists, including G.F. Nicholls and T. Mower Martin. Second edition, thoroughly revised. Contains a frontispiece, and all thirty-one other colour plates. Collated complete. (1922, first published in 1911). - The Channel Islands, described by Edith F. Carey, and illustrated by Henry B. Wimbush. Later printing of second edition. Contains a frontispiece, and all thirty-one other colour plates. Collated complete. Contains publisher's original advertisements to rear. (1930, first published in 1904). In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, the odd faint mark to boards, minimal to London. Bumping to the heads and tails of the spines, and to the extremities, a little heavier to Channel head of spine with minor loss to cloth. Slight fading to spines, lighter to Empire, heavier to Channel. The odd spot to end papers, with offsetting to free end papers of Lakeland, including the half-title. Previous owner's ink inscriptions to Empire front pastedown and Channel front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with spotting to extremities of Channel and Empire. Good. A. Heaton Cooper; Various [inc. J.H. Hartley]; Various [inc. G.F. Nicholls]; Henry B.
