The binding remains structurally firm and tight, though the original blue cloth boards exhibit significant damp-mottling, discolouration, and spotting, alongside a tanned spine that is ge…ntly rubbed at the head and tail. The gilt tooling to the front board, featuring vignettes of monoplanes and a coastal flight scene, retains some brightness but is subdued by the surface marking and wear. The extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. The text block edges are tanned with scattered foxing, which extends to the preliminary leaves, including the frontispiece and title page, while the main body of text remains generally clean and highly legible throughout.
