Scarce publication in Jack Collom's "the" series of poetry journals. From 1966 to 1977, the Boulder poet and teacher published 14 "the" issues, this one being number 12. Many well-known poets would often contribute works. This issue is divided into two sections. The first section contains poems by Carmen Vigil, Denise Levertov, David Meltzer, Phil Garrison, Kenneth Rexroth, Don Katzman, Jack Hirschman, and Snorri Sturluson. The second section, "Poems by Poets Living in Boulder or Section B," features works by Reed Bye, Marc Weber, Janet McReynolds, Marc Campbell, John Moulder, Jim Burbank, Dan Hankin, Jack Collom, John Gierach, Edison Engle, Jane Creighton, Charley George, Marilyn Thompson, and Sidney Goldfarb.PHYSICAL DETAILS: Quarto (11 x 8 1/2 inches; 280 x 215 mm), unpaginated, [36 pages] in stapled, illustrated wrappers (soft cover). Poems by Reed Bye, Jack Collom, Robert Creeley, Edward Dorn, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Barbara Guest, Lyn Hijinian, Bhanu Kapil, Harryette Mullen, Shin YuPai, Andrew Schelling, Anne Waldman, and Philip Whalen. Each 15" x 9" broadside was separately designed and printed with distributable type by classes at Naropa University, and is signed by the poet. Also included are a title and colophon print. Signed broadsides are in very good condition, text and illustration bright and bold. Clamshell box covered in sage-green cloth with inset title plate, white ribbon for lifting broadsides, and clasp.
