Approximately half of the illustrations relate to Venice/Italy. The complete "Encyclopedie des Arts Deco…ratifs de l'Orient" ran to 6 volumes comprising Persian Ornament, Arabian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese and Venetian. The volume offered here is complete in itself. Eugène-Victor Collinot (d. 1882) was a French potter and designer. His books had a seminal influence on the introduction of Islamic decorative art to French artists and Craftsmen, notably Joseph-Théodore Deck. In 1863, Collinot and Adalbert de Beaumont founded their own faïence factory in the Bois de Boulogne, specializing in wares inspired by Persian and Iznik pottery (The Grove Encyclopedia of Decorative Arts).
