Contact seller5-star sellerHardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Full Title: The Life and Heroic Exploits of Israel Putnam, Major General in the Revolutionary War. Published by Ezra Strong, New York, 1835. Good quality book now in a clear plastic cover. 5-5/8" x 4", 190 numbered pages. The heavily toned paper-covered front board has an engraving, reprodu…ced on the page facing the title page, of "savages attempting to roast Major Putnam". Corners are rounded, The spine (is it leather?) is intact and holding everything together nicely. Paper is rather stiff but not brittle; the paper is lightly toned and has a noticeable waviness to it. Virtually all pages have some staining, though none affect the readability of the text; there are also several small penciled marginal notes/comments. In addition, there are some small slips of paper interspersed throughout with inked comments about the accuracy/truthfulness of the author--I will leave them in--they probably date back to a pre-Civil War time. There are engravings sprinkled throughout the text. There are no loose pages nor, as far as I can tell, any missing pages. The hinges are tight so that the book opens only about 135º, not a full 180º.
