Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This offering is an ORIGINAL edition copy (NOT a modern reprint) of The King of Mysteries, or, The World's Wonderland, A Thrilling Narrative of the Many Efforts and Attempts to Pierce through and Unravel the Dark Shroud of the Unfathomable Mystery Enveloping the Icy Regions of the Arctic Circle written by Col. A. G. Feather. In essence, it is one of the first books on the early excitement, exploration, and mystery of Alaska . . . WHICH is also "richly and profusely illustrated with a series of super chromatic plates." The book was published by B. B. Russell and the copyright is by John E. Potter & Company in 1891 and appears to be a First Edition but is not specifically stated as such. It is a tome. It is NOT an ex-library book but it is also only in good condition with a spine that was having some problems maintaining its integrity . . . which prompted me to seal the spine in clear plastic tape to preserve the uniqueness that still shows. The pages are yellowing and the spine IS getting brittle, so it must be handled with care (or rebound) but, as yet, there is no foxing. The many illustrations, black-and-whites, fold-out plates, even color etchings are neat examples of a time gone by. It has no dust jacket. The book is 6 1/2" by 9 1/2" by 2 1/4" and has 718 pages with an extensive Table of Contents and the fore-mentioned illustrations. It's a nicely done book, still in good condition, that would be more than merely a talking piece for the bookshelf, particularly for the person heavily into Alaska and how it once was. Thank you.
