Brown cloth with black title lettering across top front cover above black and orange oval illustration of sailing ship on high seas; light green checkerboard endpapers, with story-related figures illustrating the darker green squares. No dustwrapper. Book, as artifact, is in Very Good to Near Fine condition, Library binding (white cloth down inside hinges). Some light smudging to some pages and signature of 'Louise', bundle of brown crayon lines on second flyleaf; brown crayon 'N' on ffep, along with some penciled-in numbers on lighter green squares, and 'Louise' in pencil; 1 1/2" "lightning" mark in brown crayon on title page; brown crayon '07' colored on Contents page; rear endpapers also have 'Louise' on each page, rear endpaper at rear hinge starting (to about half-way up; page fully intact). Pages have smudges, but printed text unaffected, no marks (nor brown crayon marks). Binding strong; corners sharp; covers clean; no conspicuous rubbing wear at corners or spine ends: does not look over one-hundred years old.
