An author and songwriter ("Sunbonnet Sue", "School Days", "Waltz Me Around Again Willie"), he joined ASCAP in 1927, and often collaborated with Gus Edwards. Wm. C. Powell, was born William C. Polla (1876-1939), in New York City; a ragtime composer and publisher, he studied at Chicago Conservatory and New York College of Music. He composed The Ragtime Laundry and The Condolier (as W. C. Powell in 1902 and 1903), and later published and composed under various names.
