Creamos cada gesto, cada sensación, cada vez que lo sentimos, cada vez que los realizamos. Por eso la pintura sigue viva, por eso y porque la pintura de hoy no es la misma que la pintura del siglo XVIII, ni que la pintura de las cuevas rupestres. Pinturas inventadas en cada momento de la historia que fue necesario volver a inventarse la pintura, tal vez no el arte. El arte es un concepto tan abstracto que está sujeto a los caprichos cambiantes y volátiles de mercado, instituciones e intelectuales sin metas más lejanas que el horizonte de las ciudades en las que viven temporalmente. La pintura es otra cosa, la pintura siempre fue algo necesario y por eso no muere, se transforma, se reinventa. Continuamente está empezando. EXIT es una publicación que solamente trata de fotografía, y puede parecer que esta afirmación admirativa tiene poca relación con la foto. Sin embargo, es todo lo contrario. En este número el centro sobre el que todos giramos sigue siendo la imagen fotográfica, pero el movimiento viene impulsado por la mirada de los pintores. De unos pintores que están, han estado, inventando la pintura con una mirada diferente. Que han sabido regenerar una forma de hacer, de mirar y de ser. La pintura siempre fue una práctica en la que la mano era el motor, generaba la acción y la realidad de esa acción. Se ha hablado del cuerpo, del gesto, de la fuerza del pintor, pero un día la mano cedió su papel motriz, el rol del director de escena, a la mirada, al ojo.
