Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. Gray cloth decorated in gilt & black, illustration of Jesus the Shepherd holding a lamb on the front cover, light soil to binding, 8 x 6 1/2 inches, all page edges gilt. Extra engraved title page, 34 pages of engravings/text on thick stock, engravings printed on one side only. The prefa…ce is written by the sister of the author, A. M. Clephane, from Melrose, Scotland. She says that the poem was seen by Mr. Ira D. Sankey while in Scotland - presumably during an evangelistic campaign by D. L. Moody - and he added the music to it, and it soon became a leading feature of Mr. Sankey's evangelistic singing. This charming little book is full of engravings illustrating the poem, with the final pages being the poem set to music.
