Two Lectures on Some Changes in Social Life and Habits (1857); 'Cakes, Leeks, Puddings, and Potatoes' (1864). Finally, Handbook of the Scottish Language (1858). Second title contains 3 B&W illustrations. Library copy, with expected inserts, stamps and inscriptions. Pages are rather marked with pronounced tanning and foxing, plus thumbing. Intense hinge cracking and looseness. Sporadic stains and marks. Boards have some edge wear, with pronounced bumping and peeling to corners, while spine ends are crushed and peeled. Rather scratched, rubbed and marked overall, especially leather areas.

Original boards covered in dark green cloth and lettered within ornate scroll in gold on front cover. At base of page 66 is an Edinburgh Public Libraries accession stamp (not filled in) but no other library marks. A nice clean copy but front hinge nearly completely split (needs repair).
