SIGNED BY THE AUTHORS. Before the publication of this book, only fragmented information was known concerning P.38 production in the Czech territory. This border area was granted to Germany as a result of the "Munich Agreement" in September of 1938, and was called the Sudentenland. Most researches and collectors assumed that Spreewerk in Grottau (Hradek nad Nisou) produced only P38 parts. And for years, final P.38 production was wrongly attributed to Spandau, Berlin, which was where the main factory, and the headquarters of Sprewerk, was located. Along with Walther and Mauser, Spreewerk Grottau was one of three factories that produced P.38s for the German Army during WW2. In fact, Spreewerk Grottau started production in JuLy of 1942, which was well ahead of the Mauser factory. This book is a result of researching the history of wartime production at the Spreewerk factories in Grottau (Hradek nad Nisou) and Kratzau (Chrastave). The book contains previously unpublichd informaion obtained from more than 40 former forced labor factory workers. You will find many details about the productin series, the dating of the pistols, as well as pistol stamps and markings.
