Third printing of the 1943 first issue, reprinted in '46, and again now in '98, "with the addition of the early church history". 48p., neat double-column presswork on glazed alkaline paperstock, smallpoint typeface, softbound in 12.5x9.5 inch decorated wraps featuring many local advertisements with b&w photos of the Skagway venues (humble shopfronts!). A little edgeworn, crimping along spinefold, corner-tips slightly curled, a good to very good copy: generally sound, quite clean, entirely unmarked. The centennial edition.

Presumed first edition (no direct statement provided). Staple-bound booklet: H 22.75cm x L 15.25cm. Collates as 1-12, 17-28 plus covers (i.e. missing pages 13-16). Obtrusive staining and soiling with some foxing, creasing, and edge-wear to covers and leaves; leaf 11-12 and 17-18 detached but staples otherwise firm. With advertising mostly for local firms on pages 2, 6, 8, 20, 24, 28, as well as front cover verso and rear cover recto+verso. Sold as is. {Book #2} TESTED RECIPES COMPILED BY LADIES OF THE FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH AMORY, MISSISSIPPI. THIRD EDITION. (Edition stated upon front cover). A good+ copy. 40 pages plus covers. Interior pages have some stains, foxing, and scattered light soiling; handwritten ink correction to page 8 with ink underlining and margin notes at bottom of page 18. Staples are firm. Scarce local church cookbook undoubtedly printed in small numbers for sale to members of the congregation. OCLC does not locate any editions held by any member institution.

Later unprinted laid paper wraps with "Busbridge & Co Superfine" watermark 16x24cm. (4)pp title, dedication, and opening statement; 29pp table; (3)pp data tables, Index and Errata. Very good, foxed. Prepared in support of a very early unstated edition of a "Missionary Map of the World", it is not recorded on Worldcat or Library Hub, which list other contemporary missionary gazetteers. It contains significant detail "found impossible" to include on the map itself. Dated Dublin, 1830, it was written by "The Compilers" (unnamed) for the Reverends Robert Herbert Nixon and Joseph Henderson Singer, Secretaries to the Hibernian Church Missionary Society (HCMS). The HCMS was founded in Dublin in 1814 by the Reverend Benjamin Williams Mathias, who had also formed the Hibernian Bible Society in 1806. It gathers information from over 30 Societies. The table (pp1-29) arranges Stations by region: Western Africa, South Africa, African Islands, Inland Seas, Siberia, China, India beyond the Ganges, India with the Ganges, Ceylon, Indian Archipelago, Australasia, Polynesia, America, Guiana and West Indies, North American Indians, Labrador, Greenland, and Continental Europe, subdivided by sub-region or tribe. Columns describe location with map coordinates, populations, Society affiliations, date established, number of schools, number of scholars, names of Missionaries and other labourers, with other observations and detailed footnotes. p(30) contains several tables. One lists 145 languages and dialects for Scriptures distributed, printed, translated or promoted by the British and Foreign Bible Society. Another 6.1M Bibles and Testaments issued by the Society broken down by home and abroad. And another annual expenditure by that Society for its first 25 years, a total of £1.6M to date, of which £104K with income of £86K in the 25th year for example. pp(31)-(32) contain Index and Errata.

Soft cover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This is a Very Scarce "Ladies of the Presbyterian Church" of Meridale NY, cook book, or--as referred to in that era (circa 1900)--a book of receipts, in this case, tested receipts. It is in Good+ condition and is complete with some foxing, and the covers are separating, but still connected to the book. Internally, the book is in Very Good+ condition, with some pencil marks, but non obscure the text. The fascinating recipes are sorted into sections: soups, fish, eggs, meats, vegetables, entrees, salads, puddings and pies, ice cream, cake, cookies and doughnuts, bread, pickles, jellies and jam. The hamlet of Meridale NY, population <500, was part of the larger, but still very small community of Meredith NY, which is located in Delaware County. Measures 6.5 x 5.25 inches, with 72 pages.
