Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 8vo, i-xix, 393 pp, portrait frontispiece of the Emperor Ch'eng -tsu (Yung-lo), 11 illustrations including maps, one being a folding map in the rear pocket. Navy blue cloth, light spotting to the top edge but an excellent copy in a dust wrapper which has some light foxing to the rear. Book plate of Captain Richard Campbell RN, Royal Navy Hydrographer and an authority on early voyages and travel. Hakluyt Society, Extra Series no XLII.
