Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. This book, "Around the World With Kipling", was published in 1926 as an additional volume for inclusion in "The Mandalay Edition of the Works of Rudyard Kipling". It is an unidentified later printing of this title [The Map is bound in at the beginning of the first essay "Around the World with Kipling", rather than opposite page 78, as the illustrations list indicates. ] The book starts out with an anonymous introductory chapter , "Around the World With Kipling". There are a number of excerpts from various writings by Kipling. After this introduction, there are five essays on Kipling, which are as follows: * "Kipling at Home", by Irvin S. Cobb * "Rudyard Kipling - A Biographical Sketch", by Anice Page Cooper * Rudyard Kipling's Place in Literature", by Richard Le Gallienne * "Rudyard Kipling" by William Lyon Phelps * "Rudyard Kipling as a Frenchman Sees Him" by André Chevrillon. And, finally, the book closes with "The Kipling Index - Being a guide to the Mandalay Edition of Rudyard Kipling's Works ?" Includes essays by five different individuals; Includes "The Kipling Index"; 121 pages; 5 3/8" x 7 7/8" (approximate 12mo); maroon cloth covered boards and spine; paper title label on spine; Kipling's initials stamped in blind on front board; front and rear end-papers printed in maroon and white, featuring the early Hindu & Buddhist symbol for good luck in each corner; gilt top text-block edge; fore- and bottom edges are rough-cut. Sans the printed dust-jacket. CONDITION ? VERY GOOD ? This is a previously owned book that remains clean and attractive, with the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR : spine extremities are compressed and display modest fraying; title label on spine is toned and slightly weathered; front and rear boards are clean, but have bumped corner tis with a touch of fraying; top edge gilt is fairly bright; fore- and bottom text block edges are toned, else clean. BINDING : Solid ? no leaves are detached or loose. Gutter is slightly cracked between pp 58 & 59. INTERIOR : Clean and unmarked throughout. No writing, marginalia or signatures.
