Chevreul, Michel-Eugène (1786 Angers - 1889 Paris). Französischer Chemiker. 1809 Lehrer für Chemie an dem Privatinstitut von Fourcroy. 1813 Professor für Physik am Lyzeum in Charlemagne, 1820 zugleich Examinator an der École polytechnique in Paris, seit 1830 auch Professor für Chemie am Naturhistorischen Museum in Paris. Seit 1824 zugleich Direktor der Färbereien und Professor der auf Färberei angewandten Chemie bei der königl. Gobelins-Manufaktur.
