She met and interviewed General Chennault of the US 14th Air Force Headquarters, China in 1944, three years later they married, Anna was 24 years old and General Chennault, 54. Octavo, xiv, 318pp. Cream hardcover, title in black on orange cloth spine. Stated "Eighth Printing, November, 1970" on copyright page. Solid text block, foxed edges, internally clean. In the publisher's dust jacket, stated "Eighth Printing" with $6.95 retail price on front flap. Faint foxing to all edges, short closed tear to top edge of spine. Inscribed on the front free endpaper "To Doreen Feng With warmest regards and best wishes Anna Chennault," featuring a few additional characters near her signature. Doreen Feng (1923-1980) was the daughter of Chinese diplomat Chih-Tsing Feng. She was a multitalented author, painter, and sportswoman. She worked for the United States Department of Commerce, responsible for designing rural programs in fisheries and aquaculture for minority populations in Alaska. In her free time, she wrote "The Joy of Chinese Cooking," and was a respected member of the New York social scene. Signed.
