Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. This book is in Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good dust jacket. The book is in clean, bright condition. There is some beginning bumping to the spine ends of the book covers. The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket is generally clean and bright, but has noticeable patches of rubbing. "A Long Journey, George Blake Charney's account of his experiences in the (Communist) party, certainly tells a good deal more than such works as Budenz's. But most of what it tells is not really news. Charney was a major participant in the struggle for control of the party in the years following Khrushchev's secret speech to the Twentieth Congress. But even here, the details that he adds serve only to flesh the story out a little; they do not in any way alter the meaning of the events as they appeared on the public record. Charney does, to be sure, give a first-hand account of how it felt after almost a quarter century as a party functionary to have the ideological rug yanked out from underneath him. But even this scarcely ranks as a revelation; it had to feel that way, as any sensitive observer could know without being told." (from Commentary Magazine, Nov. 1969).
