Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. SIGNED and inscribed by the author to the dedication page. The author drew on her own, and her Lutheran minister husband's personal experiences in West Lebanon, Ohio, for this novel of well-depicted early 1940's life in Ohio. Charlesworth describes events, people, slum areas, social status, the wealthy, ice-skating, courtship, incidents at the parsonage, religious decisions, and more. Quite an elusive book in an even more scarce dust jacket. Corners very mildly bumped, else nearly fine in blue linen with gilt embossed titles to the front cover and to the spine; in a very good dust jacket with fading to the spine panel, small chips to the upper spine edge, rubbing to the lower spine edge, flap folds and corner tips; original printed $2.50 price still intact to the front inner flap. Octavo; 385 pages. Inscribed by Author(s).
