A large proportion of the Inns covered are in St.Albans, on the buildings of which the author had published several other monographs. Undated but internal evidence suggests mi- to late 30s. The covers have an illustration of a boy and girl reading a book together. A red rope goes around the boarder of the front cover. That rope pattern is also on the spine, where it encircles red illustrations of a boy and girl dancing (separately). Red blocks at the top and bottom of the spine with the title, author, and publishers in gold gilt lettering. General surface and edge wear to all volumes. Light soiling to the covers. The corners have been bumped. Light fraying in a few of the corners. The previous owner's name has been stamped inside of each of the volumes twice. Pages show reader and age wear with some discoloration. Some volumes have heavier tanning than others. A few pages in 'Christmas Stories' has soiling. The bindings are all a little loose with a few cracks in the spines throughout each volume. Pages all appear to be secure still. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book.
