A very nice copy of the scarce first edition of Charles Drayton Thomas's book which continues his work in psychical research, aiming to provide evidence that human consciousness survives death. It builds on earlier investigations (like those in An Amazing Experiment) and presents additional cases of mediumship and alleged spirit communication. Uncut pages are very good: a little initial and sporadic spotting (especially browning to title page, see photos) but overwhelmingly pages are clear and bright. No notes or underlining, just a small inscription from previous owner to front FEP by well know parapsychologist Alan Gaud. Binding is excellent. No give or lean. Blue boards are really nice, clean and tidy. Slight crumpling to corners and a a little wear to top and bottom of spine. Gilt letters on spine are clean and bright. Imprinted title on front cover is clean and clear. Illustrated. A lovely copy of this scarce edition. See photos which show the book in clear detail. All photos are of the copy for sale, we don't use stock photos. More photos available, please just ask, likewise contact us if you have any questions.

An excellent copy of the first edition of Rev Thomas's supposedly real-life case of alleged communication with a deceased child, presented as evidence for life after death. A very interesting case study in the field psychical research and spiritualism. A very good copy in original cloth. Pages are clean and bright, only a little tanning on FEPs and pasteboards. Previous owned by well known parapsychologist Alan Gaud, and his very small owner sticker and signature are on front pasteboard and FEP (see photos). Other than that, no notes or outlining. A normal 'old book' odour. Binding is excellent. Red boards are in very good condition: clean and square and no real wear beyond what one might reasonably expect. Spine is slightly worn but still very good. No dust jacket. Illustrated. See photos which show the book in clear detail. All photos are of the copy for sale, we don't use stock photos. A good copy in its original cloth of the very rare first edition (1922) of Reverend Thomas's famous psychic study which aims to prove life after death by having 'spirit communicators' identify specific, unread passages in books and future newspaper headlines, suggesting information acquisition beyond normal means. Uncut pages are overwhelmingly excellent: clean and clear with no notes , no underlining and only the most faint sporadic natural ageing. FEPs have a degree of light brown tanning. Front pasteboard has a very small sticker of previous owner well known parapsychologist Alan Gauld. His small signature is also on front FEP (see photos for these). Binding is very good, maybe the slightest lean. All pages are complete and tightly bound. Boards are good: some pale mottling on front cover (see photos) and corner crumpling. But overall boards are very sound and firm. Spine is good with clear gilt lettering and a little crumpling to top and base. No lean or give, unusually for this edition. A good copy of a rare edition. See photos which show the book in clear detail. All photos are of the copy for sale, we don't use stock photos. More photos available, please just ask, likewise contact us if you have any questions.
