A tight, clean, sound copy in green cloth covered boards with gold lettering and metallic green graphics on the spine and gole lettering and graphics on the front with minor overall shelf wear plus there is some light soiling on the right outside paper edges plus there is a large red "H" stamped on the title page. The dust jacket shows moderate overall shelf wear with some edge wear and heavy chipping around the spine top and bottom edges plus there is some light overall yellowing and soiling plus it is in a new mylar cover. A collection of essays, letters, and prefaces from English literary writers from 1660-1800, England's first great age of criticism. The editor includes a general introduction and introductions to the authors and special sections that provide historical, social, and intellectual background information regarding this period of criticism.
