Written following the fall of Burma to the Japanese in WWII (and presumably the exodus of the author) this series of thirteen atmospheric short stories reminisces on life in late-colonial Burma, a era now lost forever. The author, a Wesleyan Methodist missionary first posted to Burma in 1908, expresses great empathy for the people and respect for their native Buddhist beliefs. A small, rare gem.
