The Victorian age was the first great age of the photograph, and the work of its photographers conveys a sense of discovery and excitement that has never been recaptured. This collection pulls us back and brings into clear focus what life was really like in this historic time. William Sansom contributes an absorbing introduction on the fabric of life under Victoria and Thelma Capman a note on the history of photography. 32 pages of text. Rest of book is B&W photos; unpaginated. Dust jacket has just a hint of wear/price clipped. A copy as wonderful as the photographs.
