The gilt lettering & insignia on the front board is bright & colorful. The backstrip has some light soiling and some edgewear on the top & bottom. The gilt lettering on the backstrip has a little wear. The endpapers are lightly discolored. The glossy portrait page has some foxing on the front & back. In this collection all tunes and texts have been transcribed without alteration from Cecil Sharp's notebooks in the way that he noted them from the traditional singers." This edition had 122 songs, 323 variants and included the material collected by Cecil Sharp in his first visit to the mountains, a 9 week sojourn, in 1916; and 32 songs from Dame Campbell, collected from 1907-1910 mainly in Kentucky and Georgia. The expanded edition includes material gathered in an addition 19 weeks in 1917 and 18 weeks in 1918, where Sharp was accompanied by Maud Karpeles. No expedited shipping.
