Présenté comme étant le journal retrouvé d'Elena Ceausescu, il a été écrit en réalité par Patrick Rambaud et Francis Szpiner. C'est un livre canular que les auteurs ont voulu le plus réaliste possible. Edité par Flammarion, l'ouvrage pastiche la jaquette de la Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, et détourne le "Nrf" en "Bdf" (Bibliothèque de la Securitate) en référence aux services secrets roumains. En réponse, Gallimard porte plainte pour contrefaçon et a assigne Flammarion en justice. L'éditeur se voit condamné et doit pilonner les 5 500 exemplaires du livre. "Carnets secrets" sera finalement retiré avec une nouvelle couverture. Ici, l'un des rares exemplaires rescapés du pilon, avec la couverture d'origine.…
