Estienne's critical edition of two manuscript g…lossaries (ca. 2nd-3rd century A.D.) discovered by him, the first Latin-Greek, the second Greek-Latin; pp. [8], 666 columns; [8], 13-247; [20], 208, 246, 40. Boards rubbed, and a bit scuffed along the edges; some early marginalia. Large armorial bookplate of Hugh Robert Hughes of Kimnel and Dinorben (1827-1911) on front paste-down; bookplate of E. Nonetheless, they are "among the best glossaries we have, full of rare, ancient learning." /// Charles Labbé was a parliamentary barrister of Paris, who published, with the help of J. Scaliger Glosses on Greek law (1607), and prepared an edition of the Glossaries of 'Cyril and Philoxenus', which was published after his death by Du Cange (1679). (Sandys 2,287). The first part of this work contains Greek-Latin glosses, the second Latin-Greek glosses, followed by emendations.
