Z/B : 116 Seiten, 50 ganzseitige Abbildungen - Carl Meffert, geboren 1903 in Koblenz, seit seinem zehnten Lebensjahr in einer Fürsorgeanstalt aufgewachsen, wurde 1920 wegen Beteiligung an den Aufständen bei Kriegsende zu drei Jahren Festungshaft verurteilt, die er in Einzelhaft…, von menschlichen Kontakten völlig isoliert, absass. 1926 kam er nach Berlin, wo er vorerst in Obdachlosenasylen lebte und mit dem Malen von Preisschildern auf Märkten seinen Unterhalt bestritt. In kurzer Folge entstanden die Mappen zu Gladkows Aufbauroman «Zement», dann «Erwerbslose Jugend», «Deine Schwester» und Fürsorgeerziehung», in denen Meffert seine persönliche Erfahrung als Anstaltszögling, als junger Mensch am Rande der Gesellschaft darstellt.
