After many conversations at Goldeneye a 'team' was collected: Ian Flaming to open the book, of course, with an account of his own relationship with Jamaica and a general picture of the pleasures of living there; Morris Cargill and the novelist John Hearne to fill in the background, historical and human; and ten other writers, either Jamaican or long-term residents of the island, chosen because of their special knowledge of and enthusiasm for various aspects of it.

First edition 2nd impression stated of a near fine hardcover with a gift inscription on the reverse of the ffep in a near fine dustjacket with minor wear to the extremities, a small closed tear on the back cover near the spine and a bit of loss to the front corner at the bottom near the spine. Author Ian Fleming's affectional take on Jamaica where he spent a great deal of time writing the James Bond series. Finished and edited by Morris Cargill, Fleming's friend of many years.

Page edges are browned with a little staining to the bottom edges. Endpapers are browned and there are small brown stains on the preface and one other page but the pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. Jacket has some edge rubbing, some fraying along the right edge of the front panel and chipping to top edge of front panel and corners. It has also been reinforced on the reverse with a one inch strip of stiff paper along the top and bottom edges. There is also a little staining at the top of the front panel and browning to the white areas. Jacket design by David Battle. First printing.
